About Me

Dot
Sydney, NSW, Australia
Dot Wilkin is a Sydney artist/educator who has been producing striking visual images since her school days. She has held exhibitions at Parliament House in Sydney and Canberra and has participated in numerous major group exhibitions. She has won several significant awards, most recently the Nora Heysen Award in 2009. There is a spiritual emphasis in much of her work with a second major theme being the Australian landscape. She works in a wide range of media, including oil and acrylic painting, etching, screen printing, digital and mixed media. She has qualifications in both the arts and in education, and her professional education reflects her commitment in both fields. In her initial Art Certificate studies (Meadowbank TAFE, 1986-87) she was awarded the prize for painting; she has subsequently obtained a Bachelor of Art Education (COFA, 1988-91) and a Masters of Contemporary Art for Educators (SCA, 2006). She has recently completed the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. She has taught art extensively in Sydney’s secondary schools.
